slow and stalling buffeing

Ihave recently begun to experience buffering problems. I have downloaded new copies of firefox and flash, cleaned my files to the best of my ability, but still experiencing the problem. Do I simply need to increase the amt of buffer allowed?

Buffering would usually indicate a throughput problem. Have you tested your up/down rates on the system when the buffering occurs? There may be something choking off the connection or maybe you're just on dial up?
