I've gone from windows to linux numerous times thinking THIS would be the last time. Because i hate windows.
There are a number of reasons as to why i don't like windows. I'll try to keep this short.
1) Windows update loops are still a thing in 2024. I remember these things existed back in the XP days.
2) Microsoft is one of the biggest companies in the world and still charge a license fee for their windows versions. For the "windows server" versions, its fine but the normal windows versions used for personal use is not necessary at all to charge a license fee.
3) Microsoft as you know is the owner of Edge browser, and they're making it harder every day to get it removed (obviously easily done with third party software).
4) Microsoft is an investor of OpenAI, which is the owner of ChatGPT as we all know it. Microsoft has included ChatGPT in Windows 11 (which is cool!) - BUT, when you type in a search query into ChatGPT it opens Microsoft Edge. And thats when i had enough of windows last time. Microsoft is just such a trashy company.
I could go on, but these are the things that i could come up with at the top of my head.
On another note, linux is awesome. I've used linux for server management for about 7 years now, and its awesome. I switched to Zorin OS two weeks ago and its been a blast. I have even been playing Helldivers 2 on it, it runs just as well as it does on windows. Which is awesome. Its cool to see how far the gaming compability layers have come! Anyway, rant over.
EDIT: I have realized i have gone a bit off-topic here.
To answer your question:
Most linux distributions aren't for the average windows user. Most things in linux will have a user interface to do what you want to do, but not everything.
I can't remember the last time i used a user interface to update linux.
