I'm running rhel4 ws. A moth ago a have tried to update glibc libraries. But after all attempts i removed all the packages of glibc-2.5 and rolled back to glibc-2.3.4-2.25. later a used ldconfig and all became looks fine. But now i've disclosed that smbclient programm doesn't work, i'm getting an error "segmentation fault".
Any body knows what is the problem? any suggestion/solution?
The glibc software is so fundamental that any error with it can potentially cause problems throughout the system. You really need to resolve whatever issue you had with the glibc update and apply it. Since you are running RHEL you have probably the option to raise a support call with Red Hat, and I would not hesitate to do so in the case of kernel or glibc issues.
Thank you for attention to my problem. I'll try to solve it using your suggestion 'bout glibc. I'm running rhel4 ws at workplace, so i can't change system.....well, gentoo is a wery interesting distribution, i think, but at this time that isn't a useful solution (for me at work....at home my box runs debian sarge)......anyway thank you!
