Running a Linux distro in AMD K6 166mhz and less than 256MB RAM
Hello,
I want to run Linux in AMD K6 166mhz and less than 256MB RAM on PCem,
I am curious. I just want to feel how modern Linux looks like in such a old CPU and very low RAM,
I don't want 16 colors 640x480. I want least at 256 colors
The distro version needs to be 4 years old or less,
I know Tiny Core Linux exists but I want other distros,
The most of distros like Ubuntu do not work in such a old CPU and very low RAM,
I know I am not new to Linux and I known Linux few years ago but I am still curious,
Try your best to recommend a distro for running in AMD K6 and thank you, ALWAYS READ THE FIRST POST AND FOURTH POST

Reason: It's allowed to suggest me other os. the only rule is the version should be less than 4 years old
AntiX 23 Base 386 did reach to the start screen and even the boot screen barely before throwing a panic due to some ACPI errors and the CPU
AntiX 19.5 Base 386 Same
SliTaz did reach to the boot screen but refused to boot because cmov was not supported by the CPU
TinyCorePlus will work. no need to test
Slackware 15 did reach the start screen but refused to boot to setup because maybe it's deadlocked in memory
Slackware 14.2 did install and booted without a panic. Just X did not work (Yes I know it's more than 4 years ago but still suitable).
Devuan did reach the start screen but refused to boot because the CPU is i586
Debian 12 did reach to the start screen but refused to boot to setup because the CPU
Debian 11 Same
NetBSD 9.3 did install and booted without panic and X does work at 640x480 and 32 bit color
Some nightly build of ReactOS 0.4.15 refused to boot due to the CPU being not supported
ReactOS 0.4.14 the setup did work. but I messed with the themes and hard reseted. it crashed during boot after. Second time the setup was restarted and completed. it booted normally. I think the keyboard is not working normally

Reason: tested ReactOS
AntiX 23 Base 386 did reach to the start screen and even the boot screen barely before throwing a panic due to some ACPI errors and the CPU
AntiX 19.5 Base 386 Same
SliTaz did reach to the boot screen but refused to boot because cmov was not supported by the CPU
TinyCorePLus will work. no need to test
Slackware could work. I am too lazy to test it
Devuan may work or not. I am too lazy to test it
Debian Same as Slackware
What is your reason for asking for suggestions.
You have stated you are too lazy to test the suggestions you received, so this is a waste of our time.
I think finding a Linux on that system may be hard. IMHO, GUI installs will fail, I know Slackware installs via text screens, I am sure there are others but I forgot what they are.
But for that system, I would give NetBSD a shot, I think NetBSD would work fine plus you get to learn a different unix type system. Minux may be worth a try too, but have never used it.
