Resolution in console

I`ve just compiled a new kernel, but when i boot up the console does not fill the entire screen. Is there something I`ve forgotten to include in my new kernel?

Just tried to add "vga=792" to my /boot/grub/grub.conf, but still I can`t get higher resolution. I`m trying to install Gentoo on my Toshiba Satellite, when I had Slackware 9.0 on it, everything seemed to work just fine.
