Start a new thread in "Linux - Newbie"; give it a title like "Grub error 18".

is there any major difference to the different partition managers that you mentioned above. I am trying to get Ubuntu working on an older laptop and something seems to be wrong with ubiquity every time I try it.
The reason I moved to ubuntu on that computer was the windows install seemed to be corrupted... but now I'm leaning towards a bad hard drive and I wanted some sort of partition manager that I can try and use from the live cd to try and correct this so I can proceed with the install.
I'm relatively new to debian-based linux (I do mostly rpm) so you can take a look at my bug report:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source...ity/+bug/78214
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
