replacing one distro with another

I recently upgraded my hard drive to 40 G, and installed linux RH9 on one half of it, leaving my Win98 on the other half. I'm not thrilled with RH9. Can I replace it with another distro, without endangering all the data and applications on the Win98 half of the drive? I have no important data on the RH 9 side. Thanks.

Yes, by reinstalling and touching only the Linux partition.
On some distro's when installing it will give you the option to modify and/or delete Linux partitions only.
