Unhappy Reinstall Slack's LILO after WIndows XP reinstall

Hi,

I had to reinstall XP and have now lost LILO.

I've been away from Linux for a while and can't remember how best to get LILO back. I'm cautious of running the Slack install CDs as I've updated the kernel and installed/compiled lots of software that I don't want any danger of removing.

Is there a simple way to get LILO back?

Thanks very much.

Thanks for that.

I boot, pointing root=/dev/sda5 etc but I can't access the partition.

Is there any specific kernel that has SATA support that I should be using, or am I missing something much simpler?

Thanks again.

OK - sorted.

I followed the instructions exactly as stated and was then able to mount the partition using 'mount -t auto /dev/sda5 /sda5'

I was still unable to run 'liloconfig' (couldn't find it) so I ended up running 'setup', configuring where the partitions are (but not installing any software), 'configure system', which ran liloconfig for me, and then I CTRL-C'd out after running the liloconfig bit (so not setting any other systems bits, such as networking).

I now have access again.
