Redhat 9 to WindowsXP-How

I have succesfully installed redhat9 on my pc and i just wanted to install windows xp again just for the sake of learning how to do it.

The first thing i did was insert my xp cd hoping that its easy to install just like what i did when i insert redhat 9 when i was running windows xp. Now it shows an error and it says that it cant find the winxp cd so im guessing it has something to do with partitions since i have read that theres a huge difference in reference to partitions in linux and windows.

i also tried formatting my harddisk using win98 boot disk cause its the only way i know how to format a harddisk. i also tried inserting the rescue cd and delete the partitions so that my computer can read the boot disk or the windows xp cd. but all of those procedures failed so what i did was reinstall redhat 9 for no apparent reason.

I have nothing against Linux in fact im planning to buy a new computer and run it using SuSe since ive read in this site that its the best distro to work with when trying to learn linux. Im a newbee not just in linux but also in using computers so I hope you guys can help me. Thank you so much!!!

And yes i am living in a third world country so learning how to use a computer is big deal for me. And a great thing if I can master using Linux.

Thank you again for helping me and also for giving some time to read this. THANKS!!!

No. Your computer will boot from your CD-Rom BEFORE the Harddrive, so it will have no knowledge of Linux when its loading from the CD-Rom.

When does it show this error?
Does it boot up from the CD but then when trying to install windows it spews cannot find CD-Rom

Have you removed LILO (or GRUB)?

Here's the Microsoft article on partitioning a hard drive, with some other articles linked under troubleshooting:

Hope these help.
