Re: UTC Time

When first installing or right after installing any Linux or UNIX operating system, does the time go by UTC time?

I know during the install process you have the choice of selecting the timezone that your in. But my question is, if no Local timezone (or whatever offset from UTC) is set by the user during installation will the time be in UTC?

This is regarding both Linux and UNIX.

I would appreciate the reply.

kinda, sorta depends on the distro, some installers won't let you proceed until you choose either UTC or local, some will assume UTC until told otherwise, and vise versa. all set the RTC to bios time initially.

I am assuming that ALL Unix time runs on UTC time. Is this true? Especially with corporations???
