Pudd: recovering data

I recently used Pudd to copy an ATA drive to a USB drive. There is ample room on the USB drive for the existing data and the data on the ATA drive, however the copy seems to have overwritten the data on the USB drive. Is there a way of recovering the data on the USB drive?

Of course you could try a tool like Photorec to "carve" files out of places you can't reach due to having overwritten the partition table, but Pudd stands for "Puppy Universal dd" in which "dd" stands for "disk dump" which means making a bit-by-bit copy of something. So wrt recovering overwritten data I guess the short answer would be "no". BTW, welcome to LQ, just sad to see it's on such an occasion. Anyway, hope you like it here.
