Angry profile help

I cannot get my .profile to execute in my home directory when I initially login. The /etc/profile is executing, though. Is there something I have to do to the /etc/profile to get the .profile in my $HOME directory to execute afterwards? I thought it was automatically executed. Can anybody help?

I'm not sure about ~/.profile, but ~/.bash_profile should work.

What distro? Do you mean root login or userlogin?
What exactly is not exicuting? Have you made any changies
to the /etc/profile? What do you want to happen? What terminal program are you using (i.e. xterm, rxvf, Kterm, gnome-terms.

Again be specific. Answer each questoins.
And if you made changes to profile post it.
