I am a new Ubuntu 12.04 user with no experience with Linus systems
my wireless internet connection was successful.

Is this a linux driver? Linuxprinting.org doesn't list that printer as being supported.

This link is the driver for linux.

-->http://support.lexmark.com/index?pag...n_US&locale=en

Is this where you got the driver?

You might want to have a look at this link also.

Just keep in mind the link I provided is to a .rpm file. You will need a .deb file in order to install on Ubuntu. There may be package conversion utilities that can convert rpm to deb format.

Smile lexmark x6675 wireless printer.

I tried the suggestion of altering a driver as suggested, but I had no authority and I did find a 32bit Linux driver which I don't think will work on my 64 bit system. So,

I've decided the solution is to get a printer that has a Ubuntu driver.

I am very grateful for the quick and thoughtful responses that were promptly given to me, Thank you all

Most HP printers and many Brother printers have linux drivers. A good place to look for linux support is here -->http://www.linuxfoundation.org/colla...s/openprinting

This is a link to Brothers linux drivers.
