Exclamation Probing EDD(edd=off to disable)... ok


I have an old HP and I wood like to keep it but the Vista OS got trashed by a virus, SO I am trying to switch over to linux but keep getting this message [ Probing EDD(edd=off to disable)... ok ] I am pretty computer savvy BUT i can only enter the boot menu ..... how do I get past getting probbed by this mesage.

Welcome to LQ.

You must provide more info if you expect to get help. What distro/bootloader to start with?

You can add the edd=off switch to the kernel command line to turn off probing EDD.

It's fedora red hat 12, and I don't know the bootloader.
But also I can't access the command line at all.
