Printing with CUPS to hplaserjets only printing 1 line

Hi,Linux newbie looking for direction, runing a Redhat AS4 and trying to print to either an HP Laserjet 4200 or 3600 by first adding printer
"/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p chi-laser080 -E -v socket://192.168.40.172 -m laserjet.ppd"
then sending a print job
"lp -dchi-laser080 log.020108"
The result is a page with the first line only. If i check the queue it returns "Print file sent waiting for printer to finish...

I thought this would be an easy one to find docs about, but no luck so far. Any help appreciated.

Found my answer

Well, although i had the driver added as "-m laserjet.ppd" it was printing raw. I had to go into the gui/printers and edit the print queue to a PCL 5e, now i am able to print from the command line. I guess i will read on to try to make sense of this.
