Package manager for CentOS

Sorry, if I seem dumb to ask this question, but:

What is the package manager for CentOS?

Is it rpm? Because I read that yum is the package manager for CentOS. I always thought that yum was for downloading packages from the internet.

Can somone clarify for me? Thanks

From DistroWatch, the package management system is RPM:
Quote:
CentOS is 100% compatible rebuild of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux
From linux.Iso.edu:
Quote:
Yum is an automatic updater and package installer/remover for rpm systems.
In the sense that I think you mean it, Yum is the package manager.

The CentOS Wiki has the sort of info you are after. The LQ Wiki can also provide you with information.
