My wifi doesn't work after re-installing Zenwalk 5.0- RT61 driver, D-link DWL-G510

Hi folks!

Usually whenever I try a Zenwalk distribution, the lack of automatic detection prevents me from keeping the distro. Basically, I want some helpful tips here, or links that can a) fix my situation b) tell me something general about troubleshooting wireless connections across platforms. c)Not have to randomly read a 1000 pages linux book (I have already begun, but it takes time ;P )

OK, here is the point. I have a PCI wifi card that uses a driver from Ralink. Zenwalk doesn't include this driver in its distribution. I am following a guide and I will post the link below.

The pci card shows a light, the wireless networks show up in Wicd, but connection attempts fail, also on unsecured networks in my vicinity. I double boot windows, so of course I have entered my password correctly. The funny thing is that I got it working a couple of days ago, but after creating a mess trying to get skype working, I wanted to do a clean install again.

Where should I be looking to find out what the problems could be?
