My question is how do I wipe my imac and have it reset to factory settings.

Hello, I'm new to apple imac pcs and bought a used one with Moutan lion 10.6 installed. When I when's to upgrade to maverick I was told I needed the mountain lion disk. So I looked around and ended up getting magic parted recovery disk which is for any OS. I ran it one I have Linux on my imac. My question is how do I wipe my imac and have it reset to factory settings. I don't have anything I need to save so a full clean wipe would be great.
Many Thanks

Howdy and welcome to the Linux Operating System forum. There are many things in common between Linux and MacOS but for question you'd be best off using the Apple documentation.

Look up questions like this. See documentation for your EXACT model. https://discussions.apple.com/message/21655114

You don't wipe it, you do a factory reset & it will repartition & install original factory condition. Then you'll have to do the updates. Although you say it's an imac you don't say what model. I myself don't mind helping you but this is a linux forum. Google you make & model for factory reset.
