Question Mouse. (more than one), double clicks when single clicking?

I have Ubuntu 12.04 on an Acer Aspire 3680 machine. Sometimes when I click with my mouse, any one of them(3), not all connected at the same time, I get a double click response when only clicking once. They (mouse) work fine when connected to a windows box. Has any one else had this annoying problem, and what to do about it?

Thank You for your time and expert advice

How do you know it's double-clicking? Is it because an item opens when you click on it once? If so, your file manager most likely has the Single Click to open option set. Check in the options settings of your file manager and turn off the option if set.

When I use calculator I'll click on a number and 2 or 3 of that number I click on shows up amd I have to delete unwanted numbers. When I launch any program like firefox 2 or 3 Firefoxes open on the bottom panel. I don't seem to have this problem with the laptop click button (yet). This problem happens on any mouse I connect to the Ubuntu 12.04 system and has started recently (maybe with in the last month or so).

ris1943,
I did n't know 12.04 had a bottom panel, or any decent panel. When starting a program from a gnome 2 panel it requires only one click, a double will produce 2x the program. To open a directory from the desktop will require a 'double' click.

Fred.

Thats just it, click once on the firefox icon (or any other program you may want to open), and two firefoxes, or other programs opens.

Activating by a single click is normal behaviour in Linux. Just don't double click.
