monitor freq in red hat 9


hi all,

i had a problem with redhat 9. iam unable to find how to change the monitor frequency . at 60 Hz my monitor is flickering . i want to change it to 70 hz. how to do that? plz help me.

Check out your /etc/X11/XF86Config file. There should be a Monitor section in there where you can define the frequencies.

i had seen it.

horizsync 30-71
vertical refresh 50- 150

i have changed vertical refresh to 75 . still when i see the monitor settings using the buttons of monitor i found it as same 60 hz. what shall i do

Look into your monitor's manual first. In the tech data you should have correct values for your monitor. I think your horiz sync is probably even higher than you have now.

If this doesn't work, run xvidtune. It's a program for tuning settings for resolutions - the result you get should be inserted into the config as a modline. Can write more about it if you decide to use this way.
