I'm trying to make my modem work with linux. I went to all those websites where they have info about linux modems (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Modem-HOWTO-1.html and http://www.linmodems.org) but I couldn't figure it out.
I tried a lot and I'm very frustrated.
Can someone please tell me step by step how to configure my modem to make work with linux?
I would really appreciate your help.

I wouldn't worrk 'bout linmodems as that's regarding using 'winmodems' under linux.
First step is telling linux where to find the modem. It's plug n play, right?
try this...
check to see if you've already got /etc/isapnp.conf - if you don't then we'll make one. Back it up
Code:
cp /etc/isapnp.conf /etc/isapnp.conf.orig
Now you can make one.
Code:
pnpdump > isapnp.conf
If you don't have pnpdump - get it.
You might also want to see that you have the following packages. ; wvdial (and wvdial.dod), minicom (to test your modem), and ppp support in the kernel (usually in the default kernel).
that should get you started...
