Media Check= FAIL - MDSUMs Check out

Please advise.

I installed Fedora last night even tho the media check classifed my disks as FAILED.

I had burned and dowload 4 copies and was getting tired.

When i boot what I installed... everything goes fine as to the options to boot but it hangs on "config Kernel"

I thought.. i should re install.

I have ISO files that check out as far as the MD5SUMS.

I am using nero to burn the ISO files.
I am using these instructions based on

THIS help page

CONTIUED.

When I boot the computer from my disk1 of Fedora 3

It has an option for media check
I check my disk
and it FAILS.

I have burn 15 CDS and all have failed.

I have reduced the BURN speed. to see if that would work.

What am I doing wrong?

maybe I should get a different CD burning program?

This is my first try at an install and I am very frustrated. and I am trying to keep a clear head and figure this out....

But I am at a loss now...

Please advise.

Thank you.

Strange thing. When you get the right result of MD5SUM and then burn it, the installer should also say the cd's all right. Burn speed may help, but I'd try downloading again. But before that, do you have a possibility to check if that's only the one cd rom drive that has problem reading your cds? I mean, can you boot from it on any other machine?

maybe try burning from a friends cd burner?

also, at this point you may want to try a network install if you have another computer to use as the life host. (ive never done it personally, but i know it get frusturating after burning 15 bad cds)

Here is the funny thing I think.

If I pop disk1 into my latop it reads the disk. I see the files.

If I put the disk back into my desktop and it boots and then I check the media.. and it tells me it FAILS...

I have downloaded it 5 times from 5 different mirror sites.

each time checking the MD5s .. each time checking out.

The I burm the image using nero - works fine.

But when I get to the check media it FAILS.

Side questions.

When booting I get hung on "Congfiguring kernel parameters"
Does this error have anything to do with installing from "bad" media? or did the install go fine.. but I have a different problem here?

thank you

Using Nero.

And yes 2 computers now say that the CD media is FAILED.

Iam trying a different write program.

I burn audio CD's all the time... and they are fine.. I wonder what the deal is?

I am trying ultraISO to burn image disks right now.

you can use CD-RWs if you're sick of blowing through your stack of CDs. I'm having a similar problem. I can do
>md5sum ./FC3-disc1.iso
twice in a row and get 2 answers.

I've tried downloading about 15 different times from different mirrors as well as bittorrent which just kept checking and rechecking. I've even downloaded from the university here where they are mirroring it. fast, but the md5sums don't match and they FAIL the disk check.

I've never had this problem in the past. Any success stories? reasons to keep trying? Maybe it's time to swith distros.
