LXLE desktop paradigm selection

Hello,

I have a new installation of the 32 bit version of LXLE running on an MCI Wind U100 netbook.

My problem is that I don't know how to select the desktop paradigm on boot up. As far as I can determine I should be presented with a login screen and an opportunity to select the desktop but no such screen appears during the boot sequence.

I can get to the screen from within LXLE (Shutdown/Switch) but regardless of what I select it goes back to the XP paradigm.

Is anyone able to help? Thanks in advance - Michael.
