logroate is not zipping file under customized directory

if log files are in /var/log/..., things work as expected.

now in ubuntu 12.04, in /etc/logrotate.conf, i added these lines to the bottom of the default config.

/aaa/bbb/www/log {
size 1k
create 0660 root utmp
rotate 4
}

i can see log files are generated into /aaa/bbb/www/log, the size keeps on increasing.

But i don't see the gz files.

Any suggestions ?
Thanks !
