any one knows how to solve linux (knoppix) sound issue ....on my laptop i have installed linux and window my window 7 sounds very well but linux doesnt sound at all... does anyone know the commands for solving sound issues...thanks
no mixer isnt muted but still my linux doesnt have sound i m a new user of linux doesnt know much commands of linux to solve the issue please if anyone knows help me out

Open a terminal and run alsamixer. Use the left and right arrow keys to cycle between the different sound sources. Use the up arrow key to raise the volumes all the way up. If any of the sound sources have a MM at the bottom, then navigate to them with the arrow keys and unmute them withe the m key. Then close alsamixer with the Esc key and see if the sound works.

i also have problems with empathy messangers i cant login ..ihave registered my accounts of yahoo, f book n msn but it doesnt log in after long time of processing it says athuntication falied...please help me with this.. i will really appreciate it

Running alsamixer and turning all of the volume levels all of the way up should always be the first thing you do to troubleshoot a sound problem in Linux.
Sorry, but I can't help with the Empathy IM problem. As amani said, this is a separate problem and would warrant a new thread.
