konqueror freezing on CDROM access

Recently installed Mandrake 9.2 with KDE 3.1 as desktop environment.
Installed via CDs on a LiteOn CD52*35*52.
Installation seemed a sucess.

However now when I try to access files from the same CDROM drive from either Konqueror or Konsole, they freeze as does mouse control and as far as I can tell the rest of the system.

Same happens with my other CDROM drive (also LiteOn) when attempting file access. However I can play music from this drive via KsCD.

Access to floppy from both Konqueror and Konsole is fine.

The system mounts the drives on boot. Here is the post boot fstab:

> /dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
>
> none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
>
> /dev/hda6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
>
> none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0
>
> none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount dev=/dev/hdd,fs=udf:iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0
>
> none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
>
> none /proc proc defaults 0 0
>
> /dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0

I dont even know where the problem lies.

It's probably a supermount problem. To check, as root run:

# supermount -i disable

then try to mount your cd roms from the console and see If you get a freeze up. To reenable supermount run:

# supermount -i enable

If it is a supermount problem, I would leave it permanently disabled and make mounting icons for your cd drives and floppy. It's easy to do in kde. Post back if you need help with this.

No. Did not work. As root, supermount disabled OK. Mount floppy and floppy access ok from Konsole. But on attempting to mount CDROM does not go back to prompt, sits and thinks for about a minute, during this time mouse can still be used on desktop, then freezes.
