Question Keyboard won't work to type root password


Sorry for been a thick as pig s#@t newbie but when I open the super user Konsole as root, my keyboard won't work to type the root password. I know it's me, but what do I do

Thanks in advance for your help

It is working, just the characters arent being echoed back to you as *s or anything. Type the whole password and press return.
