Installing Java Virtual Machine!!!!!!

Hello All, I have downloaded the Java Virtual Machine from Sun
to my home directory, I have tried to follow the installation
guide, unfortunately I am stuck at trying to launch the executable
file to extract the RPM package, after enter the shell prompt tells
me no such file or directory exists. If anyone has suggestions
or can guide me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Still a newbie always!!!!! Thanks and regards Mike C.
