installation probs pls hlp


i cant install fc4..i used a dvd which came wit redhat fc4 bible...
it contains a live knoppix version...which is workin fie...but the fc4
is not bootin...
somthin like this appears
kernel panic
append "root=" option..
i once bootee dusin linux hdd=720,32,64
but it is nt working again..
any idea y it is so?

I appreciate the difficulty of dealing with English as a second language, but you will need to help us understand better what is happening.

When you installed FC4, were there any errors during the process? When booting, what steps doe it go through before you get to the errors?
Can you boot up in Knoppix and read what is on the disk? If so, please post the output of "fdisk -l" (ell)

sorry i ws in a hurry
i mnt i typed in linux hd=720,32,64( it once worked...but it doesnot anymore
the error occurred at the begining itself the gui of installer didnt even load...

it goes like this

"ram disk root=nullor unreadable block at (8,3)
pls append a "root=option..."
ubuntu works prop..

thanx....

Did you check to see if the installation media is corrupted?

Best bet would to re-download the dvd-image or the iso images and re-burn them.

thanx maybe tht is the prob...
but wat i cant undrstnd is tht it booted into the installation gui twice.. bt i hd to quit it once bcoz i wasnt sure where i ws goin to install it...and the nxt time...it stopped at an error..
