I got a HP probook without OS, that I want to have Ubuntu as OS. I only got basic computer skills, so I hope for som guidance.
So far I`ve downloaded Ubuntu as a iso by using Utorrent.
Q1: what program is the best for burning the iso-file to an usb/cd?
I have Deamon Tools installed on my computer, but i assume that is only for installing the .iso on my computer, not to burn p.x ubuntu to Usb/cd.. Or am I wrong?
Q2: when installing Ubuntu from Usb on the HP, and I`ve have set it in BIOS to boot from USB is just strait forward?? Or would there be any problems I should be aware of?
It would be helpful if you indicated which operating system you have installed on that computer. In addition to rufus which I think is only windows, you could use pendrivelinux which is also windows software or unetbootin which has windows, Linux and Mac versions.
You can use Unetbootin to put the iso of Ubuntu on a usb flash drive and make it bootable.
Than once that is done, go into your BIOS and set your machine to boot to usb as the first choice. https://unetbootin.github.io/
On most laptops to get into the BIOS you just have to press the F2 key a few times while the pc is booting up.
If F2 doesn't work for you the laptop should show on the slash screen when it boots up what key to press to get into the BIOS.
