Question insmod error

I am new to the linux environment, and I am having trouble loading the program. I have a dual boot system running Fedora and Win XP. I used Partition Majic to partition my hard drive.

I can get to the GRUB loader and select Fedora Core, I edit the line removing graphical interface and ad the text nofirewire, then I start the load and watch what is happening.

When it gets to checking for new hardware I receive and insmod error relating to /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.0 insmod block-major2 failed. At this point the system locks and I have to reboot. It does it everytime and I can not continue the load.

Is their a way that I can skip checking for new hardware?

Don't know if this feature is in Fedora, but you may try it. Select Fedora in GRUB and watch the messages carefully. After first screen of kernel messages (not sure if Fedore prints them), you should see
Welcome to...
Press 'I' to enter Interactive Mode
Press I (you can do it more than once to make sure). Then it should ask you before each service if you'd like to start it or not. So you should be able to say 'No' to detecting new hardware.
