increase /tmp space to 1GB


How would I increase /tmp space to 1GB. Currently it has a space of /dev/hda8 497829 9049 463078 2% /tmp

I have 25GB space in /usr

I would like to take 1GB from /usr and add it to /tmp

Hi welcome to LQ as this is your new post.
I have requested your thread to be moved to Linux-newbie,

Take some times to read the rules
and LinuxQuestions.org > LinuxAnswers > How To Ask a Question
(if you have not already)

Anyway, you will have to resize your partitions to increase one of them and decrease the other
(do a backup before because resizing is always risky)

You can update your profile to tell users which distribution you are using

fdisk -l will give you a list of the partitions

try the command
apropos partition

Space problem
