Unhappy I am trying to reboot a DVR running Linux

I am trying to reboot a LookC DVR running "Isolinux" and after installing the CD it restarts and comes back with BASH- like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible line completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename.
Watching the system booting up the only thing I can see untoward is a line that states HDD0 is write protected - is this correct?

Isolinux is a way to boot a computer.

Did it ever work correctly?

It may have two or more things that it could consider a hard drive. Some embedded OS may be on the HDD0 and a storage another.

isolinux is a bootloader, not a distribution

I'd doubt it is solaris. More likely still some version of linux or even qnx.

Did it ever work correctly?

Yes it worked perfectly for over a year.
It then failed to reboot properly after a power cut and was shelved for a couple of years as was running another dvr.
Now that has failed big time and is past economic repair considered reinstalling this DVR as club has no cameras running at present.
Bought a new rescue disc off supplier and fitted new fans - as noisy and a new hdd.
Old drive was 250gb new is 400 which Im told larger is good.
