http & ftp services


itīs me again asking stupid questions cause iīm still a newbie

how to http and how to ftp between two linux machines??

i donīt need that you tell how to make it, at least where to find the correct info!!

For a web server I would use apache:
http://httpd.apache.org/

and for ftp I would use vsftpd:
http://vsftpd.beasts.org/

There is lots of documentation on their sites as well as this one. I use both so if you run into difficulty and can't find an answer else where just post again.

i have downloaded apache and i just installed on my machine

i need to communicate two machines as a http service using apache

do i need to configurate the apache?

yes, have a look at /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

but there are a lot of things, i donīt know what to do

and what do i need to do here: /etc/rc.d/init.d/http?

nothing, that is the startupscript.
if you want to start the server: service http start
" " " " stop " " : service http stop
