How to reroute or fix GRUB on a netbook?

Just took off Ubuntu in anticipation of selling my netbook. Windows XP is on the hard drive. GRUB refuses to see Windows. How do I go about making GRUB find Windows or just remove it completely?

There is no grub there - you said so yourself. Deleting Ubuntu deleted the grub code as well.
All you have is the initial (stage1) code, which basically goes looking for the code you deleted.

Boot your XP CD and get into recover mode, then "fixmbr". All documented on the technet site.

Update: hmmm netbook - probably means no CD; or install media at all.
I'd better go find one and have a look.

That's what's making it so difficult. Darn netbooks.

O.K., go get yourself a bootable USB system - pendrivelinux.com has heaps.
There are several (Linux) tools that write M$oft compatible MBRs, but some have questionable histories and have been dropped from distros like Debian.
Have a look here for a (hopefully) legit option.
