Question how to remove ubuntu8.04 from a dual boot lappy as has 8.04 & 8.10 & windows

My dual boot dell lappy has 3 o/sys options in the boot screen, grub? I think its called. I have both Ubuntu versions 8.04 and 8.10 as well as XP home. I wish to run 8.10 only, still as dual boot though but don't know how to remove the old version. I updated with the 8.10vers from a cd-r origionaly and have a copy of ultimate to update next on dvd.

Use gparted to format the drive and then install the new os.
