How to Create an Image of Linux Redhat 5 and Restore it while crashed?


Hi,

I am using Redhat 5 and Oracle 10g, mostly i am afraid of crashing my server, so is there any software to have a complete image of my linux and database and restore it while crashed?

This has been asked (and answered) many, MANY times on this site before...a quick search turns up lots. But what you're looking for is either mondoarchive, systemimager, or mkcdrec. There are also other utilities, but those are the most commonly used. They create and ISO image, which you can then boot from and recover your system.

Also, since you're using RHEL5 and Oracle...you are paying for support, right? You should contact Red Hat and Oracle, and get THEIR suggestions. Especially since a database is in the equation...'hot' backups can frequently fail, unless you use special utilities to get the database in a good state.
