How to configure sendmail only to send mail to external mail account

Hi Friends,

I'm newbie to linux and sendmail... I have installed RHEL4,oracle for my company. I'm using cron to schedule data base backup. In case of any error, I want cron to send mail to my mail address. My company has a large network with a mail server in the HQ. My branch network is a sub-net (192.168.x.x). I don't want the mail to be sent to my local user account in the linux server. I do not have internet access. I can access my mail server only using intranet(IP).

First I would make sure you can send email from this server
to your mail server. When that works, you can update the
/etc/aliases file and add a line like this:

root username@example.com

Then run "service sendmail restart".

Thanks Carl..I'll just check it with my Admin and revert back (He's out of station)..
