How do i change from 8-bit color to 24-bit

I should be able to get 16-bit color on 1024x768 res and 24-bit on 800x600
But seem to only be able to get 8-bit no matter the resolution.
Can i choose somewhere or can i force KDE and/or X on a 16 or 24-bit.
(8 is pretty bad, i can see the pixle on my screen quite well from my seat...)

Hy! If you open the Display settings somewhere in your distro than you should find the resolution changer and the change it to your resolution, and you should select that 'to start with this resolution' to be the "default" every time you boot. Try it! It should work! Or there is another way to configure the XFREE Settings, try in a terminal: startx --config but this will work when your graphical environment is not running. Good Luck!
