i have got my grub installed . actually i ahve two version winxp . one on my C: and one on my e: drive. i have got bad sectors in c , so though windows has been removed from there the mbr image is still there
what i was doing was that i was trying to make hdd6 i.e. my e: drive as other boot option. since mbr image was in C: there it couldnt boot
so i changed the hdd6 option to hdd1
and i got my windows back
anyway it was great fun as i learned a lesson that if u have to solve a problem patience is the greatest key
