Gnoppix/DamnSmallLinux Question.

The Knoppix CD that I purchased online loads very well.

I also downloaded both Gnoppix and Damn Small Linux. md5sum for both the above iso is OK. But they are unable to locate my Chip SiS 5597 and at boot there is an error message to this effect.

This chip is my video card on my Mother Board. So both programs freeze at load.
What causes this chip detection failure ? Is there any way this problem can be resolved ?

Thanks.

Vijay

on boot w/knoppix i think it's F2 for the cheat list you can change your video setting there you'll prob have to just screw around till you find one that works, I also have onboard sis and it sux! I eventually got it to work with a generic driver.

Red Hat's - at the very top of the list it's actually called "generic"

This is very good to know. Thanks for explaining.

By the way I am having trouble with Gnoppix (www.gnoppix.org) it is like Knoppix but has a Gnome environment. I did try F2 and some of the options there but not much luck.

I have submitted a Bug Report form at that site. Meanwhile, any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Vijay
