Get location bar in "Open File" dialog box

System: RHEL 4, Gnome

Is there a way to get the location bar when I try to open/save files? It's such a pain having to drill down rather than typing in the path myself.

It's a feature according to Gnome devs; file a bug! (use CTRL+L)
