Smile Function of Root??????????

What's the difference of:

root @ lupi:/home/lupi/boc-wimax/examples #

with

root @ lupi: ~ boc-wimax/examples #

When I build the boc-wimax, I put this software in the home directory.

The resulting output will be the same, if I use root @ lupi:/home/lupi/boc-wimax/examples # , isn't it???

So, what is function of root, will be aplication to be installed should go to root directory ??

Can anybody help me on this, give link to step by step documentation, hints, or suggestions?

Thank for advance..

Quote:
root @ lupi:/home/lupi/boc-wimax/examples #
and
Quote:
root @ lupi: ~ boc-wimax/examples #
are same and the result will be same.

root is the super user having all privileges in th OS.

When you get
Quote:
#
in your prompt , then you are logged in as root.

If the path to your installed application is added in you
Quote:
PATH
variable, then you dont have to go to that path everytime, you can execute it from anywhere.

run this to get the paths added in PATH:

Quote:
echo $PATH
