Question Folding CD build issues

I am pretty new to all this. I am working on resurrecting the folding Cd for my own use.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/foldingcd/

I have installed all the tools recommended in the readme and run apt-get upgrade, ect.

The errors I am getting are as follows:
Code:
gcc: error: elf_i386: No such file or directory
make[4]: *** [arch/x86/vdso/vdso32-int80.so.dbg] Error 1
make[3]: *** [arch/x86/vdso] Error 2
make[2]: *** [arch/x86] Error 2
make[1]: *** [sub-make] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/foldingcd-code/folding_cd/linux-2.6.33'
make: *** [boot/kernel32] Error 2
My dev environment is as follows:
Code:
Linux version 3.2.0-26-generic (buildd@batsu) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 17:49:24 UTC 2012
Ideas?

I am sorry that I cannot help with any answers, but I do have a question:

What the heck is "folding CD"?

I visited the link you posted, tried to reach the homepage from SF (dead link) and read pretty much everything on SF - and I still have no clue what it is... simple explanation will suffice - thanks.
