Fatal Error - Call to undefined function : pg_pconnect() in filename.php on line xx

I have been trying to install a database web server by using RedHat 9, Apache 1.3.33, PHP 4.3.10 and PostgreSQL 8.0.1 in an Intel Pentium 3 machine. But I have been facing a problems for the past few weeks.

All the above software have been successfully compiled and installed in to the machine. Apache has been worked with simple PHP 'Hello there' coding. When I try to start writing PHP code to connect to PostgreSQL, it failed with such an error message as follows :

Fatal Error - Call to undefined function : pg_pconnect() in filename.php on line xx.

Anybody out there; your help will be much appreciated !!!

Are you sure that you have compiled php with postresql support?
