Extending logical volume LogVol01 Insufficient allocatable logical exte swap space

Hi,

i have Dell™ PowerEdge™ 2650 redhat 4 linux system with 4.256 GB ram and 511 MB Swap space and i want to increase swap space like.

[root@htss06 ~]# lvm lvresize /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 -L +6144M

You don't have enough space (logical extents) left in your volume group. Have a look at:

# vgdisplay

You'll need to either add another physical volume to your VG, or reduce the size of another LV in that VG.

I can't add new disks can anybody please give me command reduce the size of another LV in that VG

If I read it correctly, your first free command indicated that you were not using any of your currently allocated swap space. (Which is, I presume, something to check before doing a swapoff.

)

Anyhow, rather than resizing the LV(s), why not just create a file in / and add it to the swap pool? And track your swap usage: With 4GB RAM, especially if you're on a server, you're unlikely to need any swap at all...
