environment

I have just installed fedora c3.
In the installation options I chose both gnome and kde.
When the system launches it starts with what I suspect is gnome.
Is there a way for me to check what invironment is running?
In the menus I have mainly kde programs, but I still think it's gnome I'm running.

If it's gnome, how can I switch to kde (and should I?)

I'm very much a noob, as you probably can guess

KDE vs Gnome is very much a personal choice. As far as I know, Fedora uses the Gnome desktop by default.

To change, try the command "switchdesk kde" from the command line. Then log out and log in again, and it should start in KDE.

I would try both Gnome and KDE, as well as some others, such as XFCE 4.2, which is more lightweight than KDE/Gnome, but still runs apps from both. Other Window Mangers to try are Fluxbox, BlackBox ... etc.

I hope this helps

Just as an FYI...
If you type switchdesk by itself or go under preferneces and select Desktop Switching Tool you will get a gui menu that will let you select from several different window managers or reset to system defaults.
