Question Dual Boot On a USB Memory Drive?

Hey All,

I am not sure if this is possible or not, so I am seeking some input from the experts out there. I have a 2GB USB Memory drive and am going to install PHLAK on it (through PHLAK's scripts) so I can carry a recovery option on my keychain.

Here is my question. Since PHLAK only takes up like 200MB or so, would it be possible to install more than one flavor of Linux onto the drive and have like a dual boot setup just from the USB drive?

Specifically I am thinking I might like to add like Damn Small Linux. So when I booted from the USB stick I would see LILO or GRUB and be able to choose between distros, just like on a regular internal hard drive. I have 2GB, I might as well use them right?

Thanks!!

Although I am not an expert on these matters, I can't see why it wouldn't be possible. AFAIK, the BIOS looks for a Stage 1 bootloader to fire off a corresponding Stage 2 bootloader. If you can get the BIOS to find the Stage 1 on your keychain, and you can fit GRUB (or LILO)'s Stage 2 on there, as well as other OSes... well, I can't see why it would be fundamentally different to dual booting from a normal hard drive.

As for actually how to do it, I'm not your man.

A USB key is just like a normal drive. So just install your distros to it as per normal, it shouldn't be a major task.
