Driver "nvidia" causes Fatal Error: no screens found

Alright...well I turned the problem into a lesser problem...I can boot back into Linux now - but perhaps you guys can help me out here.

If I edit the XF86Config-4 file to 'Driver "nvidia" ' like the instructions say to, I cannot boot into the graphical environment. I have to have it on the default ' Driver "nv" ' to get Linux to boot succesfully into INIT 5.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

May be you'll consider this a stupid question, but does mandrake 10 come with nvidia drivers by default ?
If it doesn't you have to dowload them first from nvidia website and then install according to their instructions.
The "nv" driver is a generic driver for nvidia chipset graphic board without any 3d acceleration feature
The "nvidia" one is the 3d accelerated driver and as far as I know is not provided by any distro by now. (unless the new mandrake does).

Nope, you have to download the drivers and install them

I've already done all that though - my error hits when im configuring the XF86Config-4 file to actually USE the new drivers -heh.
