I accidently pressed suspend. After I started the system the desk top icons are missing. Can some one gives me the detailed procedure to get the icons back. I am new to Fedora.
Are you telling that everything is missing from desktop(incl. panels)or just the icons. Does the mouse pointer move? kindly reply with the version of fedora you are using,
The desktop is blank with only the wall paper some time with panel. The mouse pointer moves but right click is not working. Even I can not shutdown the system. I have dual boot with windows XP. The version should be 7. Please help in resolving the problem preferably in detial as I am new to Fedora.
Have you tried hitting Alt-F2 and typing "nautilus"? Nautilus is the default file manager in GNOME, and it also controls the desktop icons/desktop context menu. It might just be that it's not running for some reason.
As for the panels, you might be able to restore them by going back to the Alt-F2 Run dialog and typing "gnome-panel".
I'm not really familiar with Fedora, but I hope what I've written above helps.
